The Hidden Gem of Jerusalem:
Discovering the New Ramat Eshkol

Ramat Eshkol, once a quiet and overlooked neighborhood on the northern edge of Jerusalem, has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years. Today, it stands as one of the city’s most sought-after destinations for Orthodox families, particularly those from North America.

Ramat Eshkol is a neighborhood where modern living blends with deep-rooted tradition. It offers a vibrant community designed for a comfortable, faith-driven lifestyle. Boutique grocery stores feature American products; salons provide high-end wigs; kosher cafés hum with English conversation; and parks and synagogues are filled with young families. This unique blend creates a rare lifestyle that is both firmly anchored in Torah values and comfortably modern.

“We used to be a pass-through neighborhood.
Now we’re a magnet—for good reason.”

A Vibrant International
Religious Community

Walk a single block in Ramat Eshkol and hear Brooklyn inflections, Toronto soft-Rs, and London vowels blending into Hebrew. Immigration has shaped the neighborhood into a micro-diaspora, with over 50 percent of households tracing roots to North America.

Spiritual Anchors

More than a dozen synagogues punctuate the neighborhood’s half-square-mile grid. Classic Ashkenazi halls like Dershowitz and Aish Kalman stand beside the warm Sephardi melodies of Ahavat Shalom. Late at night, light still spills from Beit Midrash Mishkan Yechiel, where chavrutot linger over Tosafot and strong Israeli coffee. Two mikvaot – one for men, and one Mikvah Tahara – sit discreetly off Paran Street, meticulously maintained and open from dawn till midnight.

Nature Reserve

The park extends between the neighborhoods of Givat Hamivtar, Ramat Eshkol and Sanhedriya and has an area of approximately 600 dunam.
The rehabilitation and development of the park includes the adjustment of the streambed, establishment of channels and mini-dams to carry rainwater along the course, planting of orchard trees, and establishment of leisure corners for visitors. The park is intended for bike riders and pedestrians and cannot be crossed by vehicle. Shaded corners with picnic tables and drinking facilities are scattered across the park. Along the streambed the remnants of an ancient road, hewn caves, and water pits have been preserved. The terraces in the area show that the sides of the stream were farmed in ancient times. The park serves as a habitat for Israeli deer and other animals, including foxes, partridges, and the common kestrel.
